Artist Info
Rather than tell a story by reproducing every detail, I choose to use muted color and composition to create a visual experience.
Karlene McConnell is a former art teacher and museum educator whose paintings explore the layering of color to create atmosphere. These works are influenced by the artists of the Tonalist movement. More recent works are abstractions of the landscape with emphasis on form and composition.
“With nature as her guide, McConnell explores the variety that is inherent in Florida’s light and atmosphere while remaining mindful of the spiritual importance of the land.”
